PROJECT DETAILS

Presently, the demand for Polymer modified Bitumen / Bitumen Emulsion is high in Qatar due to the upcoming FIFA 2022 world cup and various mega projects such as the Qatar rail projects, stadium, the New Port Project and other several infrastructure projects; further the demand is
expected to increase in the foreseeable future. Therefore, from an economic point of view, the proposed project has therefore been found to be viable. Key stakeholders have already geared up themselves to ensure the smooth supply of primary construction materials, proposed installation of a facility to produce bitumen emulsions & polymer modified bitumen by Quality Seal (QSEAL)’s Management is one of them.

QSEAL proposed manufacturing unit capacity is 8,000,000 m2/year modified bitumen waterproofing membrane (SBS/APP/IPP) on the basis of 3 mm thick membrane or 5,000,000 m2 / year self— adhesive waterproofing membrane. It is calculated by two shifts per day, 8 hours per shift, 300
days per year.

QSEAL management has retained the services of Qatar Design Consortium (QDC) to carry out the baseline environmental study and prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study report.

In order to relate the existing environment with the proposed project activity, it was imperative to carry out detail evaluation of the baseline environmental characteristics including: Ambient air Quality, Noise Level, Soil Quality, and Groundwater quality.  Applicable regulatory requirements were reviewed and compiled before commencing a structured and detailed baseline studies and a refined modelling analysis has been conducted using AERMOD.
