Ready Mix Qatar (RMQ) has emerged as major company in producing concrete for construction and infrastructure buildings and has developed a number of RMQ products along with Lafarge Group. The managing partner of RMQ is Lafarge, a worldwide Group with operations in more than 78 countries and is a world leader in building materials.

The company concrete ready mix production operations are carried out from multi locations to ensure safe and timely supply of the essential building material.  Along Qatar north region, RMQ has various operational ready mix plant among which is included the unit operational at Mazroua plant at Umm Salal Mohammed. The need for multi locational production facilities had been arrived at to facilitate smooth and timely supply of the ready mix concrete products to its ever increasing client base within the booming construction industry. The management of RMQ have been operating the ready mix concrete plant at the Umm Salal Mohammed, for long many years and are considering to enhance the number of operations of central ready mixer to 24 hours cycle per day, thereby bring in an annual production increase from the present 95,000 m3, to 180,000 m3.

RMQ management has retained the services of Qatar Design Consortium (QDC) to carry out the baseline environmental study and prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study report.  

In order to relate the existing environment with the proposed project activity, it was imperative to carry out detail evaluation of the baseline environmental characteristics including: Ambient air Quality, Noise Level, Soil Quality, and Groundwater quality.  Applicable regulatory requirements were reviewed and compiled before commencing a structured and detailed baseline studies and a refined modelling analysis has been conducted using AERMOD.
