PROJECT DETAILS

Oil and gas industries have played a major role in influencing the National Industrial Gas Plants(NIGP)company expansion with adoption of more recent technology facility to meet the market’s demand for industrial gases. NIGP management has decided to establish an Acetylene Plant and Cylinder filling facility for O2, N2, and Ar. The facility would have 250 to 300 cylinder per day of production capacity for Acetylene plant and cylinder filling station for O2, N2, and Ar.

The raw-material for Acetylene production which includes, Calcium carbide and water would be sourced locally. Liquid-to-gas cylinder filling station can fill cylinders with gas from cryogenic liquid source. The liquefied air gases for filling are liquid oxygen (LOX), liquid nitrogen (LIN) and liquid argon (LAR).  The cylinder capacity ranges from 7 to 11 m3 of compressed gas in cylinders with 50 litre water fill capacity volume. These gases in the liquid state in bulk tank container would be sourced from presently operating NIGP facility.

NIGP management has retained the services of Qatar Design Consortium (QDC) to carry out the baseline environmental study and prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study report.

In order to relate the existing environment with the proposed project activity, it was imperative to carry out detail evaluation of the baseline environmental characteristics including: Ambient air Quality, Noise Level, Soil Quality, and Groundwater quality.  Applicable regulatory requirements were reviewed and compiled before commencing a structured and detailed baseline studies and a refined modelling analysis has been conducted using AERMOD.
