PROJECT DETAILS

The existing ICT infrastructure/network for data transfer between Halul Island and Ras Abu Aboud (RAA) comprises a leased bandwidth of 155 Mbps via. Q-Tel subsea cable. The Q-Tel subsea cable is presently unprotected and incurs high operating costs to QP. Further, the leased bandwidth allotted to QP is fully utilized and as such there is no spare capacity available to support the additional bandwidth requirements for data transfer from offshore to onshore.

To alleviate the above technical and commercial situations, QP is progressing the provision of its own protected subsea FO cables under Contract No. GC11106800 “Halul Subsea Power Cable”.

The subsea FO cables referred to above will be extended under this project from Ras Laffan Landfall location to PAB. In order to establish an end to end connectivity from Halul Island to ICT network in RAA, this link from Ras Laffan Landfall location  to PAB needs to be established.
