PROJECT DETAILS

KLJ Organic- Qatar WLL (Hereinafter referred as KLJQ) is in the process of establishing the permitted Chlor-alkali plant. KLJ Organic – Qatar W.L.L., is a joint venture company owned by Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Co. (QIMC) of Qatar and KLJ Organic Ltd. of India. KLJ Group, established in 1967 as Kundalia Industries, is a business conglomerate that produces varied industrial products, viz., plasticizers, flame
retardants and polymer intermediates. KLJ Organic management’s capabilities and expertise includes manufacture of chlorinated paraffin wax and phosphate esters from its earlier operations.

QIMC was established in Qatar in 1990 with a 20% : 80% with government: private equity interest split, respectively. QIMC started business in May 1990 and remains as one of the pioneering companies in the field of small and medium scale industries in Qatar. During the process of planning, design and detail engineering, the management of KLJQ had seen the necessity to also include HDPE barrel manufacturing plant, so as to have in-house strength at providing 200 to 250 lt. capacity containers for storage of CPW.

During the detail engineering and review of the project nature, the organizational management has comprehended the possibility of expanding the capacity of downstream product Calcium Chloride (CaCl2) from permitted 28,000 TPA to 50,000 TPA considering the availability of the steam from the permitted boiler. Understanding the market demand and the need for smaller packing containers for CPW product, the management had proposed to expand the earlier permitted production activities by including CaCl2 and Barrel manufacture unit.

The project scope comprises of carrying out Environmental Impact Assessment for this facility. KLJ had approached Qatar Design Consortium to carry out the scope of work (SoW) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study and to prepare the report submitted to the MME and to obtain Environmental Approval from MME.A structured and detailed survey including walk over survey, sampling analysis were performed which includes critical environmental components like ambient air quality, ground water, soil and noise within study area.
