PROJECT DETAILS

The present operation of Amiantit Qatar Pipe Co. Ltd (AQAP) was commissioned in April 2008, and over the years it has established a position of leading manufacturer of Fibre Reinforced Plastic and Fittings for projects in petrochemical, power, desalination, generic industrial as well as in municipality sector requirements.

The management of AQAP proposes to expand the present operation for manufacturing FRP and GRP pipes systems and fittings. The management is presently proposing to establish similar operational technology supported plant to produce specified quantity of FRP/GRP pipeline of 300 to 3000 mm in the future.  The existing capacity of pipe manufacturing facility is 20,000 Tons per Annum. The proposed addition of pipe line manufacturing facility to produce 20,000 Tons per Annum and will supply pipes and fittings in various designs, lengths and diameters, also specially customized to suit specific application.

The facility will supply pipes and fittings in various designs, lengths and diameters, also specially customized to suit specific application. The facility would produce GRP pipe which is Glass fiber Reinforced Polyester Pipe. This is classified into Glass Reinforced Vinyl Ester Pipes (GRV), Glass Reinforced Epoxy Pipes (GRE), Reinforced Thermosetting Resin Pipes (RTRP), Reinforced Thermosetting Mortar Pipes (RTMP) and Fiber Glass Reinforced Polyester Resin (FRP).

The AQAP management had retained the services of Qatar Design Consortium (QDC) to carry out the baseline environmental study and prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study report.

In order to relate the existing environment with the proposed project activity, it was imperative to carry out detail evaluation of the baseline environmental characteristics including: Ambient air Quality, Noise Level, Soil Quality, Groundwater quality, and Odour.  Applicable regulatory requirements were reviewed and compiled before commencing a structured and detailed baseline studies and a refined modelling analysis has been conducted using AERMOD.
