PROJECT DETAILS

The management of “International Works Development Group (IWDG)” proposes the establishment of Oil recycling factory and it is important to state that the nature of industry proposed supports the global requirement for environmental protection through sustainable technology and waste recycling under controlled operation as in the present case. Guidelines for management of Waste Oils have been prepared by agencies like Secretariat of Basel Convention.

Management of Waste Oils is an issue of growing concern particularly in industrial and urban areas. Generation of Waste Oil is closely linked with increase in population and anthropogenic activities. Waste oil contain degraded additives which along with other contaminants render them hazardous. IWDG management’s proposed project is to re-refine the used/waste oil and to produce 10,000 MTA of the refined lube base oil.

The IWDG management had retained the services of Qatar Design Consortium (QDC) to carry out the baseline environmental study and prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study report.

In order to relate the existing environment with the proposed project activity, it was imperative to carry out detail evaluation of the baseline environmental characteristics including: Ambient air Quality, Noise Level, Soil Quality, Groundwater quality, and Odour.  Applicable regulatory requirements were reviewed and compiled before commencing a structured and detailed baseline studies and a refined modelling analysis has been conducted using AERMOD.
